3.5 Million Tweets Sent During Vice Presidential Debate

A total of 3.5 million tweets were sent during Thursday night’s vice presidential debate, according to Twitter. That’s about a third of the 10.3-million mark the first presidential debate of the 2012 election hit last week.

Tweets-per-minute peaked at 58,275 just after Joe Biden’s “Oh, now you’re Jack Kennedy?” quip. The second most-tweeted moment was Biden’s comment on Afghanistan at 54,944 tweets-per-minute, followed by Ryan’s line about the Democrats getting “caught with their hand in the cookie jar” on Medicare.
