A car bomb detonated in the streets of Beirut, Lebanon on Friday, leaving at least eight dead and many more injured, according to reports from the scene.
Immediately following the attack, Beirut citizens and journalists began sharing pictures of the chaos on social media, particularly Twitter.
The motivation behind the attack is still unclear. Beirut has seen it’s share of violence in recent history, with a civil war lasting from 1975 through 1990, a 2006 war with Israel and smaller-scale secretarial fighting.
