Telethons have been streaming on American televisions for generations using the same model: Celebrities entertain while soliciting charitable donations for a worthy cause. Stand Up to Cancer is trying to change it up a bit for its third annual nationally-televised special on Friday.
Rather than simply giving callers the chance to speak with a celebrity, as is the expected tradition, Stand Up to Cancer is offering donors the opportunity to interact on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram though its Interactive Media Bank.
