A barge that was given an £80,000 makeover on the Channel 4 programme, Grand Designs, has washed up on the beach at Westcliff-on-Sea.
Described by the show’s presenter, Kevin McCloud as ‘more like Scrapheap Challenge’, the Grand Designs Houseboat had been used by squatters and vandalised, causing £70,000 worth of damage.
It had then broken free of its moorings but was later returned by tugboat to its home off the coast at Leigh-on-Sea.
